Medical Certificate for Adoption

In the case of adoption, the National Board of Health and Welfare and the authorities or organizations in the country in question may require a medical certificate. The specific examinations and tests required depend on the country’s requirements and the documents you have received.

What does the survey include?

The examination is tailored to the requirements in your documentation and may include a physical examination and blood tests, such as an HIV test.

Some samples are analyzed by an external laboratory. In such cases, we arrange the referral and process the test results in preparation for issuing the certificate. You pay us for the examination and the necessary samples.

Bring all documents and instructions you have received from the relevant authority or organization.

How long does it take?

The time it takes to complete the certificate depends, among other things, on which tests are required and how long the laboratory analyses take. We will finalize the certificate once all necessary results and information are available.

Does the certificate need to be certified for use abroad?

Documents intended for use abroad may need to be certified by a notary public or undergo another form of legalization. Requirements vary by country. Check what applies to your documents.
